Ferroli Modena 80E Combi on and off

Hi All,

I have a Ferroli Combi boiler, Modena 80E model. It is switching on and then after just few seconds it switches off. It does it on both central heating and hot water only modes. It repeated the sequences 5-10 times and then goes to lock-out. What can be done to resolve the problem?

Kevin

Hi Kevin

Becasue Ferroli are cheap cost parts why don’t you try the following: replace venturi and then verify if fan is working properly, if yes drain the boiler and change the thermistors. After you finished with those bleed the radiators. Whole replace won’t cost you more than  £50.00 or so and shouldn’t take more 2-3 hours. May be worth giving a trying before calling a Gas Safe Registered service guy

Ferroli F30 no heating

Hi Folks

I have a Ferroli boiler F 30 model. I was away for a whole year and I turned off the heating before leaving. Now I came back, turned on my boiler, my heating- and well, no sucsess. Restared the boiler- no sucsess. The only thing that appears on the display is F and the lights are flashing. Somebody an advice on how to fix it fast?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

Few things can cause a lack of heating like this. Esiest would be air pressure related, air-vent the boiler and radiator, restart and see if that helped. If not then it may be faulty flue resistor that need replacement. The biggest issue would be heat exchange valve fix/exchange. For the two last ones I would call a local service guy as it is a bigger replacement.

Ferroli Falcon Combi burner cutting out

Hi,

I have a Ferroni boiler model Falcon II Combi, and it is an old piece- approx 8 years old. I realized that during last days the burner keeps cutting out. What is mean by cutting out is that it starts to run for 1 min normally and the the flame cuts out. Boiler tries to restart itself 3-4 times and then go to lockout. When I switch on the boiler and restart it after an hour it picks up the normal functionality, for a day or two, and the the process begings again. Any idea what is the issue?

Rob

Hi Rob,

Ferroni boilers are not cheap, but fortunately pretty easy to fix. I would check if it is not an issue with flue, some stain or external flue pipe maybe. External flue pipe should be 50-60 mm long, not 10-30 (manual says from 10-30 mm). If you install a longer flue pipe, your boiler will work well under the bad (windy) weather too. By the way it may be the time when you start to think of replacing an old boiler with a new one. This one will start to break more and more often.

Ferroli boiler- heating not working as pre-set

Hi Guys,

About half a year ago I exchanged my old combi boiler to Ferroli and as heating season started I have constant problem with heating. It is not working at the time it is pre-set, worse is that I see no logic, it looks to me that it starts to heat when it wants and does it for as long as it wants. Sometimes it will be 30 min for coming 3 hours and sometimes 12 hours in a row.. It is really annoying as I work from home and I want to have a stable room temperature during the day. What’s wrong- anyone an idea?

Best Regards

Jacob

Hi Jacob

It looks like a simple fix, just replace the programmer. If I were you I would do it myself, not a big job, and I am sure you can find instructions either on this site (troubleshooting manual section) or similar sites. You can also call Ferroli and request this change to be done by them/ their contractor, after-all your boiler must still be under warranty.

Ferroli Combi boiler losing pressure

Hi Folks,

I have a Ferroli Combi boiler, it is pretty old, but did not cause much of a problem so far. We have realized that there is sth wrong and the boiler is loosing a pressure. I have tired to re-pressurize the system by the vessel- it was about 10 min job, and worked fine, but just for 2 weeks. Now boilers shows low pressure again. There is no leak under the boiler or from radiators, I should add. What is wrong?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom

I think you defied a fault correctly, just because Ferroli are low-cost boilers, parts are getting used faster than with other brands. I believe that if first you would replace an expansion vessel and then use hand pump to re-pressurise it, it would be a permanent fix

Ferroli boiler leaking

Hi All,

I have a Ferroli boiler, it is 5 years old and I had some repairs done the previous years (heat exchanger and fan replacement), but other than this was pretty fine. Today  while having a shower I realized there is no hot water, water is hardly warm. I went to see what is wrong with the boiler and I saw a puddle under it. Any idea what’s wrong?

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe

Ferroli boilers are known to have problems with shut valves, which fault causes boiler leak. You will need to get those replaced and it is not a cheap replace. Actually if I were in your shoes I would call a service guy, just to check the boiler, because leak can be caused by a lot of things…
